Dear PVUers,
We are excited to share with everyone a glimpse of what Farm 3.0 – our most ambitious update yet – will be all about.
Overview
With update 3.0, we want to retain the core gameplay of farming while expanding its gameplay several folds to create a less monotonous and tedious experience for players. As a result, many more activities will be added to the game. These include but are not limited to Gathering, Combating against Undead, and Crafting. Each activity has its own unique function, but they all support each other to create a cohesive gameplay experience. In this post, we will list out the core gameplay mechanics in the upcoming 3.0 update.
Core gameplay
The core gameplay of farm 3.0 can be divided into 3 distinct “modes”: Farming, Gathering, and Combating.
Farming
This is the mode that is most familiar to veteran players. Although there will be some tweaks here and there to link this mode with other modes, the core gameplay remains largely the same. Here is the list of some changes that will take place in the future (this list is not comprehensive and should only serve as a representation of what to come):
Modifying harvest time, so it matches the 7-day cycle of seasons
Reworking weather event
Rebalancing between NFT plants and Sunflowers
Rebalancing seeds drop from NFT plants
Adding new mechanics and removing outdated ones (detail to be announced later)
Overhaul of UI
Some of these changes will take place before the release of farm 3.0 so stay tuned, everyone!
Combating
This is where the “undead” in Plant vs Undead comes in. This mode is essentially a Tower Defense mode, in which players strategically use their plants to battle the undead for a chance to earn PVU tokens. The more undead you can slay, the more PVU you can earn in a single run. If players want to get a feel for this mode before farm 3.0 comes out, our PVU: PvP mode on Factory chain is a good representation of how the gameplay will be, minus the versus other players of course.
Gathering
This mode provides brand new and exciting gameplay to players. If farming mode serves as a chill and relaxing gameplay and combating mode provides an intense experience, gathering mode is a perfect middle ground with several minigames for players to do. In this mode, players will go on “gathering trips” that take place on several routes. Each route provides different series of minigames including Foraging, Mining, and Fishing, each with exclusive materials that can help improve your farm and combat capabilities. Therefore, choosing the right route can help you make the most of your gathering trip.
How will the modes interact with each other?
In simple terms, everything you receive in each mode will improve your gameplay experience. For example, the materials you receive from gathering can help boost your plant’s productivity, providing more Light Energy in a shorter amount of time. The Light Energy received from farming can then help boost the strength of your team during Combating mode, allowing you to clear more undead and reap more rewards.
Other supporting mechanics
There are several more sub-mechanics that will be revealed in the future. These sub-mechanics aim to provide even deeper gameplay for each of the 3 main mechanics mentioned above. Here is the list of some mechanics that will also come out in the future:
Crafting
Raising Undead as pets and butlers
Level progression
Skill trees
Brand new auction house for selling materials
Information regarding these mechanics will be announced in due time. Until then, please relax and wait for more announcements.
